Last Year's Men's Retreat

The 2004 Men's Retreat was held on October 15-17th again at River Valley Ranch (RVR) in Millers Maryland. Approximately 70 men attended with about 15 men showing up a day early for a time of prayer and fasting prior to the start of the retreat.

This years theme was Wisdom Hunter and was broken down into four talks given by four very blessed and gifted speakers. The four talks centered on Simplicity, Surrender, Living Water, and In Pursuit of Godly Wisdom.

The planning for this retreat as in years past starts in January and lasts the entire year, with a team of men meeting regularly to pray and meditate on the retreat, seeking God's wisdom and guidance in every aspect of the planning. After praying and seeking God, the theme ' Wisdom Hunter was settled on, and is based on Proverbs 4:7 which states: Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding (NIV).

Mixed in with the four talks this year was awesome live praise music performed by a band of very talented musicians. Additionally, back this year by popular demand was the initiatives courses. These are activities led by the staff of RVR that put teams of guys together to accomplish a particular mission. These activities are fun, build a sense of teamwork and teach a lesson tied to the theme of the retreat.

There was also lots of free time this year to rest, be with God and/or take advantage of the many exciting activities offered by RVR such as: horse rides, hay rides, bonfires, and the indoor climbing tower. And as always, the food at RVR was plentiful, delicious, and served with a smile.
